In 2001 I made installation 'From O'Keeffe to Mapplethorpe - photos of Mapplethorpe spread on wire-netting.
Since then I wanted to make a similar installation in glass as glass gives a possibility of producing 3D collage. Recently I have developed a novel technique of transferring photographs into casting glass using silkprint. I can obtain several layers of photographs immersed in glass.
First I cast a slabs of glass with some images and I slump them next to the shape which I need.
I received a grant from Art Council England North East to work with new material which is semitransparent concrete. I believe I am the first sculpture who was interested in using the material. You can find more in exhibitions&projects section of my website.
